Leeds University Gets New Website
The old website was failing to connect with its audience and drive people to the right areas and therefore a new consumer-facing website was needed.
The new site will be ‘modular’ with shifting focus throughout the year. For example it will cater for undergraduates between March and July, when they are making their applications. Each audience will have its own landing page, which will help to direct people to the correct content.
A new colour palette has been developed for use online – muted gold’s, greys and beige, instead of the usual green palette of the university’s identity. This colour palette will now influence the style of new printed materials – the online looks to drive the offline marketing materials. A new tone of voice for imagery and photography has also been devised.
The new website, designed by Uber, will launch in August.

Britannia Aims to Attract Savers With New Campaign
Britannia Building Society is launching a campaign that focuses on the rewards offered for existing savers while the Bank of England base rate is at an all-time low.
The marketing for the campaign highlights the fact that more than 857,000 savers received a share of its profits this year through its membership reward programme.
Created by their London agency, the press, online and in store ads feature the message “We stand up for savers”. The campaign launches this month targeting the building society’s existing customers that hold variable rate accounts. The new ads have a very British theme and have bunting as well as other symbols that are associated with summer celebrations. Bunting will also be a feature of the in store campaign.

Online Gives Boost to Newspapers!
Newspaper websites reported a jump in user numbers throughout January with guardian.co.uk seeing the biggest increase of over 30 per cent, recording 29,811,671 users for the month.
Other newspaper sites saw huge leaps with The Telegraph ranking second to The Guardian with a 23 per cent increase of users. Similarly, The Times Online who ranked third had 22,898,300 users, which was up 20 per cent on December. The more popular tabloid newspaper sector saw The Sun listed top with a 15 per cent jump bringing their online users total to 21,910,839.
This rise in website visitors is likely to be due to the need for more news about the economy in recent months. Popular stories, such as Jade Goody’s illness and the Hudson River crash, have also caught the imagination of the public.
Newspaper groups are incredibly thankful for the rise in online traffic due to the fall in paper format sales. This is yet another reminder of how the Internet plays an essential role in today’s society and how vitally important it is to get your business online to support your physical presence and traditional marketing techniques. See how Touch Marketing & Design can help your business increase visitor and conversation numbers.
